P.S. to 2006

It happened on New Year's eve. We (meaning myself, my mom and my dad) just arrived home from my older brother's lechon party.

My mother was tired and so she had to take a nap before the clock strikes 12. While she was sleeping inside the room, I was online chatting. My dad came in and asked if my mother was already awake because it was ten minutes to 12 and her friends were already waiting for her outside.

So my mother went out the room and proceeded to the bathroom. I went out two minutes later and went straight to the bathroom. The lights were on. So I knocked and called out for my mom. She has this habit of not locking the bathroom door since there are only the three of us in the house. When nobody answered I pushed the door. But then there were two knocks from the inside meaning there's somebody inside. My mother had that habit too, she wouldn't answer but she will knock from the inside to let us know that she was inside.

I waited for two more minutes and it was five minutes before 12 already. I was getting impatient cos I don't want to spend the first second of the new year inside the bathroom (hello!!!!).

I decided to use the bathroom later. I instead went outside and joined the neighbors in welcoming the new year. And there she was, my mother was already outside and chatting with her friends. Duh!

It wasn't the first time for me to feel a "presence" in our house. One time, while I was about to sleep and the lights are all out, I felt somebody beside me as if my mom was lying on the bed (with the noises and all). When I opened the lights, there was nothing.

Recently, I went to my friend's office to get something. It was past eight in the evening and she was alone. While she was inside the bathroom and I was tinkering with her things, I saw somebody on the other table, a girl with long hair, wearing white top looking at the computer.

I told my friend about it and she just brushed the information aside. When we went out of the office, she confirmed that one psychic told her already there was "something" in their office. Whether it was a ghost or imagination, my friend didn't want to entertain the thought.

Well...

Karma Chameleon

Karma is one school of thought that I believe in. To Christians, it can be translated as "The Golden Rule". For believers, it's called Divine Justice.

I know that we all benefitted from it or suffered from it one way or another. Simply, you do good and it comes back to you ten- even a hundred-fold, you know the rest of the story.

Life is a series of decisions. You make one, then you proceed to the next. In most cases, when you have chosen the wrong path, you can never go back. So the only consolation that we get is the lesson that it teaches.

Am sure all of us had our hearts "broken" not only because of a romantic breakup but more so with life's unexpected circumstances.

We can never be ready for life's surprises. But we can always focus on taking it in whatever perspective we choose to process it with.

Recently, there was a little misunderstanding with nature and I took it with a grain of salt. No harm done but a big lesson learned.

Friday the 13th

My friend in Italy bought a condo unit on the 13th floor. Say what? 13th floor??????????? Yes, she said. "We have a 13th floor here and it's not considered unlucky. The unlucky number here is 17."

A piece of info, huh! I haven't seen a building here in Metro Manila that includes a 13th floor. Considered unlucky together with the number 4 (only to some Chinese people!) although the latter didn't merit so much "unlucky-ness" to be taken out of building plans.

Today is Friday the 13th, and for many, it is not at all an unlucky day. Traffic is moderate, it's a PAYDAY(!,) and as with other paydays come mall sales.

Am so looking forward to the 3-day sale at SM Megamall and Robinsons Galleria.  Not really to shop-till-I-drop but to search for great finds till my feet hurt.

How I love midnight madness sales (popularized by Robinsons Galleria). When I was younger and had just started working, this was the event of the year, the MIDNIGHT MADNESS.

For those who are not familiar with it and wondering why a midnight madness is a special event, well, it didn't come as often as the payday sales today. It used to be a once (if we're lucky, twice) a year event. Good times, you know.

So well, am reliving the experience.

Freaky Friday

I was supposed to meet with a friend last Friday at Robinsons Galleria, National Bookstore, 6pm.

Before that, we texted each other to confirm and were indeed on our way to the meeting place.

She is the friend who was instrumental in me getting a very nice Olympus C770 ultrazoom digital camera and am meeting her that night to give the last installment for the said cam.

So she arrived at NBS at 6pm, I texted that I will just inform her as soon as I arrive. I was caught in the Ortigas traffic so I arrived around 6:30pm.

I looked around and didn't find her. I went out and texted her. After a while, I dialled her number but it just kept on ringing (two mobile numbers, btw!).

So I went back to NBS and looked some more. Exasperated, I ended up buying a copy of Pilmap Travel & Leisure where my Singapore article was published (plugging!). That was 7:08pm.

I went out NBS and called my friend again. She may just be around the mall window shopping.

My kind of luck! The phones just kept on ringing and her Smart phone was even out of coverage area. Shussshhh.

So I went to the grocery instead, bought dog food. Then proceeded to KFC to have my dinner. I was hoping that she will text me to inform where she was.

Anyway, around the same time I was texting two more people so I was sure that my mobile was working fine.

I left Galleria around 8 without a text from my friend.

The next day, she informed me that she was at the meeting place till 7:30 and was waiting for the fx till 8.

Weird. All my calls were received much later. It was really freaky. First time that it happened to me.

So anyway, we weren't meant to meet that time. For whatever reason, we will decipher later.
